Chimé Phagme Nyngthig and Vimai Ladrub Training and Practice Intensive

Retreat with Instructor, Steve Cline

Chimé Phagme Nyngthig and Vimai Ladrub Training and Practice Intensive

11-15th March 2014

This program will allow an opportunity to learn the practices of Chimé Phagme Nyingthig (The Heart Essence of Deathless Arya Tara) and Vimai Ladrub (The Guru Sadhana of Vimalamitra) during a five day practice intensive at Deer Park Institute (Bir, HP India). This program will be led by Steve Cline, a senior meditation instructor under Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche.

Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche has suggested that the practices of Chimé Phagme Nyingthig and Vimai Ladrub be taught within the context of a five-day practice intensive as an expanded form of group sadhana practice. We will practice the Vimai Ladrub in the mornings and the Chimé Phagme Nyingthig in the afternoons with the details of the practices explained during pauses in the practice sessions. At Rinpoche’s request the practice sessions will total at least eight hours per day. According to interest, we may also have an opportunity to learn mudras (hand gestures), the use of the bell and dorje, shrine organization, shrine master procedures, chant master methods, and torma making.

There is no charge for the program and Deer Park Institute can provide residential accommodation according to availability for a small charge. Meals are also available on site at Deer Park. Enrolment is limited and pre-registration is important.

Note that the Chimé Phagma Nyingthik portion of the program is restricted to those who have received the empowerment. Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche has encouraged all of his students to practice the Vimai Ladrub sadhana for group feast practice even if they do not yet have the empowerment, therefore the Vimai Ladrub portion of the program is open to all and will focus on ritual details of feast practice.

Steve Cline has been a student of Khyentse Rinpoche since 1991 and before that a student of Chogyam Trungpa. Under Khyentse Rinpoche’s guidance Steve completed three year retreat in 1997 and was later assigned the role of retreat master for Rinpoche’s two three-year retreats in Australia. Steve is a meditation instructor for the Dharma Gar and Dharma Das programs and has been involved in the translation into English of a number of practice liturgies including the Chimé Phagma Nyingthik and Vimai Ladrub.
