Introduction to Buddhism and meditation.

The focus of this program is to explore the basic principles of the different schools of Buddhism. The facilitator will present an overview of the history, philosophy and practices of the Buddhist path through Dharma talks, discussions, teaching DVD and meeting with Lamas in the near by monastery.

The program will include guided sitting and walking meditation, silent reflection periods and personal interviews with the meditation instructors.

Program begins at 7:00 pm on July 8th and concluded by 12 noon on July 12th.

 

Facilitator: Melitis Kwong

 

Melitis is a California State certificated acupuncturist and massage practitioner. She met Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche in 1985 and has been studying and practicing under his guidance since then. She has completed a 3-years traditional Buddhist retreat in Dordogne, France, and was manager at the Sea to Sky Retreat Center in Canada for 6 years. Melitis has been authorized as a Dharma instructor by Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche.

Daily Schedule:

7:00-7:30am: Meditation session

7:30-8:30am: Breakfast

9:00-10:00am: Meditation session

10:00-10:30am: tea break

10:30-11:45am: Dharma talk

 

12:00-1:00pm: Lunch

1:00-2:30pm: Personal study time or personal interview

2:30-3:30pm: Teaching DVD showing

3:30-4:00pm: Tea break

4:00-4:30pm: Meditation

4:30-5:45pm: Dharma talk

 

6:00-7:00pm: dinner

7:30-8:00pm: Meditation
