Shamatha Meditation Retreat

Geshe Lopsang Tsepel

Teachings, meditation, and discussions of this program are based on Shamatha, Vipassana tradition of Bodong Panchen. All level of practitioners are welcome.

Shamatha (Calm abiding) meditation is a practice of claming the mind in order to rest free from the disturbance of thought and emotion.

The Bodong lineage is a lineage of Tibetan Buddhism.The monastery of Bodong E was established in AD 1049 by Mudra Chenpo, a Kadampa master. It was one of the earliest monasteries in Tibet. The Madhyamika (middle way) view is the view free from all extremes of eternalism and nihilism.

Geshe Lopsang Tsepel studied at Ganden Jangste. After receiving Geshe degree, he has been meditating in his hermitage above Dharamsala since last 10 years. He also has had exposure in the Theravadin tradition in Thailand, and also teaches in the summer months in Ladakh. His main teachers are His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Denma Lochen Rinpoche (Abbot of Namgyal Monastery).
