DESCRIPTION:Stories shape our understanding of the world, offering us a lens through which we explore human experiences, emotions, and existence. The Hero’s Journey is a timeless narrative structure popularised by Joseph Campbell, after he identified common patterns in the ancient myths and folklores from all over the world. It provides storytellers with a powerful framework to craft compelling and meaningful tales.\nThis workshop explores how jungian archetypes, mythic structures and symbolism, coupled with an understanding of character development – can create stories that resonate across cultures and generations.\nThrough interactive discussions, creative exercises, and case studies from film and literature, we will uncover the timeless patterns that shape great storytelling.\nIn this workshop, you will:\n-Understand the role of myth in shaping human consciousness.\n-Explore archetypes, symbols, and narrative structures that captivate audiences.\n-Explore the Hero’s Journey and its deep psychological significance.\n-Develop new ideas and perspectives through guided creative exercises.\n-Unlock the power of myth to create stories with lasting impact.\n-Identify key archetypes and symbols that shape character and plot.\n-Engage in creative exercises to develop richer narratives.\nWhether you are a writer, filmmaker, performer, or simply a lover of storytelling, this workshop will provide you with essential tools to elevate your craft and bring deeper meaning to your stories.\nAbout the Facilitator :\nGopala Krishna is a filmmaker based in the Western Himalayas and is the founder of Himalayan Film School and Founder, and Festival Director of the Mussoorie International Film Festival, currently in its third edition this year. He studied for his Masters in Communications from MICA, Ahmedabad, and has several years of work experience as an Assistant Director in the film industries of Bombay and Hyderabad.\nProgram Cost :\nThe Workshop is offered in the spirit of Dana, on a donation basis. However, a registration amount of Rs. 1,000/- shall be sought to cover the workshop expenses.\nAccommodation :\nAccommodation is available at the deer park for registered participants. ( Dormitor, twin sharing and single sharing options).
