The body beyond itself, An exploration into the sacred language of gesture. led by Tabasheer Zutshi
The body is a primary site of experience, understanding, and knowing. When we become sensitive to the body’s innate wisdom we encounter an inner sight into a vast spaciousness. The body is then no longer simply a vessel for thought. It is aware, it is sacred.
We embody gesture from the obscure, yet expansive repertoire of Gurdjieff movements. This may be a starting point, a launchpad if you will, for an exploration into a wider world that is both individual and full of potential.
The practices open us to questions of Self and other, the phenomenal world and the nature of our individual reality. It begins with attention, which, when made serviceable,e becomes an indispensable tool for transformation. This is the doorway to our encounters. As the mind softens and the body is made available, sensing and awareness are inseparable and spontaneous. We are ‘present’ and ‘in touch’. This is our work, our aspiration.
Together, we hone meaning with the freedom of our own language. We return to the warmth of our heart centre – this is the doorway, the path, and home.

Profile
Tabasheer encountered the work of G.I. Gurdjieff, also known as ‘The Fourth Way’ in 2003 with (Late) Akash Dharmaraj who was a student of the Work in the lineage of J. B. Bennett. Over the next few decades she integrated the teachings with her explorations in yoga asana, art practice and group facilitation. Her path deepened with Buddha Dharma, bringing her past repertoire of work onto dialogue with Buddhist and somatic practices. Under the gaze and blessings of Khyentse Rinpoche, and other great Lamas and teachers, she now shares this integrated approach as a creative expression of her spiritual journey. tzutshi@gmail.com
