Holding Our Truths Lightly: Choice, Care & Everyday Wisdom, led by Dr. Nivedita Chalil

Course Description: This 5-day experiential workshop is an invitation to explore the truths we hold- about ourselves, others, and the world. These truths shape how we interpret our experiences, relate to each other, and make sense of our lives. Over time, they are shaped and reinforced by our personal histories, cultural contexts, relationships, and habitual ways of thinking and responding. While these truths often help us navigate the world, they can also become rigid or limiting, when they remain unquestioned. When held too tightly, they may narrow our choices, strain our relationships, or reduce our capacity to respond with care and flexibility.
Grounded in timeless Buddhist wisdom and the Nalanda tradition, this workshop invites participants to recognize their own truths and relate to them with greater awareness, gentle curiosity, and kindness. Through simple contemplative practices, guided reflection, and experiential exercises, the workshop offers a supportive space to examine these patterns with openness and care. Participants explore how holding their views more lightly can open space for greater agency, compassionate responses grounded in understanding, and an ease that grows from everyday wisdom.
