Partho – Education of a New Consciousness “Deer Park Shiksha Retreat”

Deer Park in its journey of “reviving ancient Indian wisdom traditions” is hosting another Shiksha dialogue. This “arya bhumi” has nurtured lotuses of wisdom and knowledge through thousands of years, that has expressed its noble intent through myriad ways. The philosophical thought and expression of Sri Aurobindo, being one such lotus has played a very significant role in India, and the world over, in the last 60 years.

We are fortunate to have “Partho” a leading exponent and practitioner of this tradition, who has nurtured some of the best learning communities across India.

Partho will lead a 2 day retreat for educators, 3-4th Nov, 2018.

The retreat is open by application to formal /informal educators. Limited number of seats.

Education of a New Consciousness

A new consciousness and approach in Education is emerging across the world in various forms & formats. The currently prevalent mode of formal education was a requirement of a Commercial / Industrial Era and is increasingly falling short to equip the students in meeting the requirements of the current times and of the New Consciousness & Light that is seeking to emerge.

This retreat is designed as a deep dialog with educators interested in exploring and understanding this new Education. On one hand this approach works by recovering the educational principles of the ancient wisdom traditions of India, on other hand it wants to develop a new education of the Future. An education that has as its aim an evolutionary growth of the individual while attaining to a complete and integral development and fulfillment of his / her potential.

This quote from Sri Aurobindo give us an idea of the Aim of the Education of the Future:

Nothing can be taught to the mind which is not already concealed as potential knowledge in the unfolding soul of the creature. So also all perfection of which the outer man is capable, is only a realising of the eternal perfection of the Spirit within him. We know the Divine and become the Divine, because we are That already in our secret nature. All teaching is a revealing, all becoming is an unfolding. Partho describes himself as a seeker of the Self, and his life’s work is to realize the Self not only in knowledge and consciousness but in the field of everyday life and living, sharing whatever he gains in life and consciousness with all those walking a similar path — for all inner or spiritual quest is inevitably a shared quest and realization.

Partho has spent more than twenty five years in the field of education and has done intensive personal research in the philosophy and practice of integral education and learner-centered pedagogies. Partho is now one of the leading integral educationists in the country and is associated as mentor and consultant to many integral initiatives in India and the US. He works with schools, universities, educators, teachers and parents.

Partho’s work involves training in transformative psychological and pedagogical processes through workshops and retreats.

Partho has, in the past, been involved with the Sri Aurobindo Foundation For Integral Education And Research, (SAFIER) a unit of the Sri Aurobindo Society of Pondicherry as teacher-educator and has headed the Mirambika free progress school in Delhi (an experimental educational unit of the Sri Aurobindo Education Society, New Delhi, and one of the pioneering alternative schools in the country). Besides integral schools, he has also worked with Waldorf and KFI schools, as well as the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) as trainer and consultant. He now heads Auroveda Gnosis, an organization engaged in educational and leadership research, training and consultancy, established in 2008 by the Auroveda Foundation, US.

Partho has authored a book on Integral Education (Integral Education: A Foundation for the Future, published by the Sri Aurobindo Society and the UBS), and is currently working on his second book on education and schooling.
