The Mind Training of the Parting from the Four Attachments or Parting from the Four Attachments; A Mind Training A study retreat with Karma Jinpa

A five-day course on the mind training as taught by Manjugosha to then twelve-year-old Sachen Kunga Nyinpo (1092-1158)when he was in retreat. Sachen Kunga Nyinpo was of the Sakya Tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. The four lines of pith instructions encapsulate the entire teachings of the Buddha and are extremely deep and profound. Much like other pithy Buddhist instructions, these four lines work to put one’s hopes, fears, insecurities, and anxieties into perspective using the three wisdoms of listening/reading the teachings, contemplating them to see how they are applicative and meditation to gain wisdom through direct experience.

Also incorporated in this course will be the use of the Doha(song of realization) from Sachen’s son, Jetsun Dragpa Gyaltsen(1147-1216), which acts as an outline and commentary to help expand the scope of these four lines to be fathomed and set into practice.

There will also be three movie nights (T.B.A.) that will add to the meaning of these two texts and work to demonstrate examples of this training in everyday life, regardless of whether one is a lay practitioner or monastic; or if one is a beginner or an intermediate student.

(Karma Jinpa is a student of Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche and Tai Situ Rinpoche, ordained and has been a student of Dzongsar Inst. since 2010. He hails from Miami, Florida USA)
